Youth

We have a wide range of youth activities suitable for all ages. Here's some of the activities:

Lighthouse

Lighthouse is an action packed evening of fun activities for children in school years 3-6; with a clear Christian message each week. A choice of activities include games and sports, cooking, drama, crafts and going to the park in the summer.

An opportunity, every Friday in Term time, for children in school years 3-6;

  • learn from The Bible
  • what does God tell us about Jesus and how he affects our lives today?
  • meet with friends
  • plenty of time to chat and have fun together!
  • take part in a variety of activities
sometimes messy, sometimes noisy, but usually fun!

Seekers

Seekers is a very popular, active youth group that meets on Friday evenings.

An exciting and varied programme of events includes treasure hunts, swimming, canal frisbee, chip crawls, sports, camping and cooking to name but a few. You can find details of our programme by going to our website

We aim to have a lot of fun and give a clear Bible message each week.

Seekers have their own website, you can get to it by clicking this link: Seekers website

Contact

Contact is a youth group for teenagers in school years 10-13. We meet every Friday evening during term time at 7:45 pm and aim to end at 10:00 pm. We meet in the church basement accessible from the canal side or through the main entrance.

We do a variety of activities both indoors and outside throughout the year. We include a bible-based talk at the end of most evenings that encourage thought and provide explanations of the Christian faith.

Sunday Schools

Children are a very important part of the Church family. Our lively Sunday school is for those aged 3-11 years (pre-school to year 6).

We meet on Sunday mornings to share the love of Jesus and learn about the Bible with singing, games, teaching, drama, crafts and lots of fun. We aim to create a loving family environment where children can feel safe, grow their own faith and feel part of the whole church family.

We also like to have summer picnics and BBQs, day trips, do cooking and have a very bouncy Christmas party!

In addition to our time on Sundays we've often held picnics, day trips, made chocolate logs and every year held a fantastic summer barbecue and Christmas party.

Engage

Children aged 11 to 14 years old (Years 7-9) are at a crucial age. They will have learnt so much in Sunday School but in these years find themselves encountering new ideas through the week as they enter secondary education. It is a time with different needs and Engage seeks to help them through the Sunday morning programme.

Most Sunday mornings the group join the main church meeting for the initial part of the service before they go to the Coffee Bar where the leaders spend time with the children in a more informal setting

Through the combination of activities we seek to provide a environment for

  • better understanding of the Bible.
  • better appreciation of how it can have influence in their everyday lives.
  • better knowledge of the truths of the Christian faith.

This is achieved through

  • Bible study.
  • group work.
  • discussion.

Our desire is to see young people:

  • have a Christian faith of their own.
  • better equipped for the pressures they face as young teenagers.
  • ready, when they leave the group, to benefit from participation in the main church meetings.
